![]() Each offers a different playstyle, with different skills and yōkai shift forms. Players that participated in last year's open beta may be familiar with the starting Guardian Spirits, but for many players it will be the first time they are introduced to Makami, Ame-no-Mitori and Kagewani. There are three Yōkai Shift forms: the Brute Form, Feral Form and Phantom Form. However, players cannot be staggered in this form and will deal more damage. In this form, health and ki are replaced with the Yōkai Shift gauge, which slowly drains over time and will lose more energy if hit during attacks. Once full, pressing both the Triangle and Circle buttons (Y and B on non-PlayStation controllers) will activate Yōkai Shift. Just like in Nioh, players can acquire Amrita to fill the Amrita Gauge. Replacing the Living Weapon mechanic is the Yōkai Shift form. A special item called a Soul Core can also drop from defeated yōkai, and can be used to unlock new skills for all Guardian Spirits. Like in the original, Nioh 2's Guardian Spirits will still confer bonuses to certain stats, but the stats have been narrowed down, and unlocking bonus stats for each Guardian Spirit will require a certain threshold of two combined stats. While Nioh fans may not be too surprised how the Guardian Spirits look, they may be surprised at how they have changed. Each Spirit is inspired by a Japanese myth or legend, with many coming from tales Western player probably haven't heard of. After defeating the tengu, approach the NPC that's on the left side, standing by the small shrine - this will complete the mission and you'll obtain a new Guardian Spirit: Kagewani.Nioh 2 has many Guardians to choose from. You'll have to fight a One-eyed Imp, two Oni-bi, Karakasa Umbrella, and finally, a Karasu Tengu within the dark realm. ![]() After clearing the outer section of the sanctum, head to the marked location and fight a gauntlet of yokai. Before you head over, check the upper-section of the cave on the left side, you'll find a Scampuss behind some boxes. You can find a Scampuss near the marked location. Apart from that, you'll also be facing yokai enemies such as Yoki, Aberrant Soldier, One-eyed Oni, Yamanba, Mitsume Yazura, Gaki, and Koroka, as well as human enemies. The area around will be filled with poison water again, and you'll need to destroy the viper statues just like in the main mission: The Viper's Sanctum to drain out the poison, there are three statues around the area. From the shrine, check the corridor first on the right to find a body that you can loot - head down to the slope after grabbing the item. ![]() The goal of this mission is to fight your way through the enemies in the area and reach the marked location.
